Colour woodcut  I always wonder when I see this if Hokusai knew that from all his works this would be the one that would become the most famous? So famous that for most people it’s not even connected to his name anymore? So famous that it is almost ‘insider knowledge’ that the mountain is the centre of the visual - even though it’s literally at the center? Hard to imagine the moment when you can create something that will become bigger than you and itself.
